About us

Service Dog University, Inc. was founded in Northwest Florida in 2014.   Our purpose is to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing service dogs to help improve their independence, dignity and quality of life.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity. We do not charge our clients for the dog or the considerable costs of the lengthy training.  We have no paid employees.  We do not recieve any Federal or State Funding.  We rely on private contributions from individuals, businesses, foundation grants and ongoing fundraising events to be able to provide this valuable service to our community.

Our Training Director is Mary Owens CPDT-KSA who has been training dogs for 40 years.  The dogs are trained using the most efficient application of Operant Conditioning with an emphasis on positive reinforcement. Training is customized according to the needs of each client.
